These are Minnie balls. Over 500,000 were made during which war? This bullet could easily break through flesh & bones.

Each bullet is about an ounce. Pretty damn heavy. And they are about the size of the thumb. Many people had to get amputations due to the poor medical training doctors had back then. Even so, the damage would be difficult to repair.

The Civil War, correct? I was taught that they were created by a French man named Minnie (pronounced Mi-nay, but then Americans started pronouncing it mini).

I don't know who came up with the idea to create this but you are correct-they were used during the Civil war. 500,000 bullets for 2,000,000 weapons.
