The teacher told us to write a story with the themes never give up, never judge a book by its cover, or treat the way you want to be treated.

So I wrote about a girl who got bullied everywhere, then things got worse and her mom died. So she lived in a foster home, the bullying got worse and led to depression and suicide.

And my friends were like: Oh my god! That's so inappropriate! Erase it! Why would you do that? You're going to the principal! It's suppose to be happy, not sad!

And I always write sad stories in school and my ELA teacher doesn't complain, she just gives me my grade. 😐 Those friends were the friends who called me white! 😡

But my one friend was especially making me regret everything I tell her and do! She was like: Laura wrote about a girl who killed herself! She's going to be go to the principal! She shouted it at lunch!!! Like stop!!! You said I was your BFF! Why are you judging me and making me regret everything?!?!

Your friends are shits Suicide is something that people shouldn't pretend doesn't exist, and instead people should spread the awareness or depression. If you represent depression well in your stories, then it's a good thing.

@👑MirandaKnowsWhat'sUp👑 I totally agree. No one should pretend it doesn't exist and be afraid to talk about it. Because it does exist and talking about it might prevent it

omg. I'm a psychiatrist and I firmly believe it is a healthy (although sometimes a warning) form of expression. Plus, it will in no way make it more likely for someone else to consider suicide. As long as you know u are safe, then go all out.

One of my good friends was actually given a prompt to write about either bullying, suicide, or mental disorders, and tbh, I think there is absolutely nothing wrong with writing or talking about these subject, because they need to be discussed.

That's the problem with mental disorders and suicide. People rather pretend like they don't exist or that they aren't a real problem in the young population. I applaud you for being brave enough to write about these subjects. You've done nothing wrong.

It's not inappropriate if it's an issue that some people are dealing with and going through it

@April Spencer, That is exactly why people should be talking about these issues and raising awareness. Mental health disorders are so prevalent, but people prefer not to hear about them because it makes them uncomfortable. And that has to change!

Writing about suicide shouldn't be inappropriate. Writing about anything shouldn't be inappropriate. There is far too much censorship in schools. Just because it triggers someone's feelings doesn't mean they have a right to tell you what you can and cannot write. Same thing with books. Say what you want, read what you want. Freedom of speech. Where is it?

people go through suicide and it is not a good thing to write about at school and many people joke about suicide but it's not a good thing to joke about and I wouldn't say it's inappropriate I would say it's not a good thing for everyone!!!! Don't do it. So it wouldn't be considered inappropriate because people do it and deal with it especially family members who had their siblings, cousins, grandkids, etc. suicide is not a joke. It's also not something good.

@♡ℓαυяα♡ I think it's great that you chose to write about a problem like bullying that does lead up to suicide a lot it's a very big topic

I don't think it would be bad seeing on how that is happening to a lot of people. Suicide has to be addressed at some point and school is the perfect place to address it. The problem is that schools feel uncomfortable with subjects related to suicide and suicide itself. Having someone else besides a teacher address it shows that other students are ok with talking about the subject and believed it should be talked about.
