I think it should be an elective, but they should teach about all different religions, not just one

We learned about the major religions in 6th grade social studies and 10th grade AP World History, and it's helpful in understanding their culture

In 7th grade World History we learned about the origins of different religions. And I agree with @Ethan, it was helpful in understanding their culture. I just wish we had gone more in depth.

@HungerGamesFanGirl 6 days a week? That's more than we have school days. Jeez. Do they teach you about just one religion or a whole bunch?

Depends on what you mean by "taught." If you mean broad-spectrum history and philosophy studies that include the history of human belief systems/thought, fine. In fact, great! We should know what different belief-systems have done in this world.

If you mean taught as if they are somehow true or right, then absolutely not. That is a violation of separation of church and state, and is an abuse of taxpayer money.

I think it depends on the religion really. Buddhism is a very neat and amazing religion.
