Getting good grades is more beneficial than learning because of the school system, which is really fucked up and backwards

@👑MirandaKnowsWhat'sUp👑 precisely! Not trying to brag, but I get straight A's. Most of the time though I'm not really learning anything.

I'm just struggling to keep sufficient grades. We all lose sight of what's most important with school, but this isn't our fault.

Im in 11th grade so we're talking college and shit. My GPA is like 4.4, but still, I'd have to do excellent on the SAT to get into a good nursing school.

Which is ridiculous and is why so many people end up in low paying jobs. Like I don't want to live paycheck to paycheck for the rest of my life. It's bad enough I'm gonna be paying back student loans for an eternity.

@👑MirandaKnowsWhat'sUp👑 haha thanks. But it just sucks that the American school system screws us over like this

Good grades are a result of spitting out right answers verbatim on a test. That's it. Not learning, not retaining knowledge, not intelligence, not critical thinking, literally /nothing/ important.

most kids these days don't even know /how/ to learn or even /think for themselves/ and that's just fucked up

And if I don't feel like it's necessary to do homework on something I already understand, then I shouldn't have my grade lowered for it cause like you said, you need damn good grades for most high-paying jobs

@👑MirandaKnowsWhat'sUp👑 there are soooo many smart kids that I know who don't get good grades but are super intelligent. And it sucks because they won't get a high paying job: all because of meaningless grades

@👊Duchessjohanna👊 Exactly.
Intelligent person gets bad grades ---> goes to meh college ---> doesn't have the proper knowledge/teaching to do anything with their intelligence to help the world or have any kind of power/authority

LEARNING, (exept stupid math things I only study because I want a good grade on useless stuff 😂) if you get a b it's still a passing grade! Just be glad you aren't that one who gets an f on the easiest test ever!

They're equal. In order to get good grades, you need to learn sth.

@noe Ehh not necessarily. A lot of people memorize facts without understanding the logic behind them, take tests, and forget the information almost instantly

@😘KimKardashian😘 yea, they teach a helluva lot of useless stuff in school...it's pretty dumb

@👑MirandaKnowsWhat'sUp👑 yeah but it's not like you don't learn anything. You may not remember specific dates but you remember things, like the global/important things.

@noe Yea, true. But would you rather learn and fully understand all the information but get relatively bad grades, or learn next to nothing but get good grades?

@👑MirandaKnowsWhat'sUp👑 I guess better grades, because it's the only way you can go to university and get a good job. I mean who would care if you knew a lot, but almost fail at school, because in the end all that matters is if you get a good job.

Who cares about grades, I think that doesn't show what you know actually learning something is more important

I'd rather learn. That's why I hate school. It's much more educational to just sit in a real library all day, fiction or non fiction section.

Learning is so beautiful. I could care less about my grades. Schools have their priorities all messed up. Everything is for a big test. I bet schools in poor countries are much better, despite having less things. Teachers WANT to teach and kids WANT to learn.

I honestly can't say that I have memorized anything from what the previous years of school "taught" me. And I won't this summer. But I memorized the Greek alphabet because I LEARNED IT.

By myself. I find that I am a greater teacher than anyone. Not for others but for me, because I know what works and how I can challenge myself and how to improve in certain areas. You see? Tisk. And now here is the PARCC.

Which doesn't even hit the things we "learned" in school. And it isn't a great way to understand the level of knowledge that children have.

I think... Instead of taking a test, students should give a presentation on all they have learned the entire year and be graded that way. Or have it every month. That would be a fantastic way for a teacher to see where they may have gone wrong in certain areas. That way they can improve together.

Probably grades, cause you need them for work and stuff but you'll never need to know in your life after school that the mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell. 🐛
