he is a poltergeist... Which is a type of ghost, but seeing as it's got a certain name then i wouldn't call him a ghost :)

You can still call him a ghost. Look at it this way - every university student is a student, but not every student is a university student (I.e. Some are in secondary, etc). So every poltergeist is a ghost, but not every ghost is a poltergeist.
