probably because girls are supposed to get more attached due to hormones that are released when orgasming. In nature females are only supposed to have one partner where (in most animals) males have loads. Me don't get as attached ( theoretically) and also girls have the chance of getting pregnant so it's more risky

But here's a real life example of the guilt thing: my friends father was a drug addict and he was not involved in the majority of her life, but now he feels guilty about it and tries to make up for it by taking her cool places and he always talks about the "good times" they had when she was younger that never happened (this shows he's repressing his emotions towards the subject) Just because he wasn't there, doesn't mean he didn't feel guilty about it
