A thousand years is like one day to God because he is infinite. So was the earth really made in 6 days, or over time?

Psalm 60:4 "For a thousand years in Your sight Are like yesterday when it passes by, Or as a watch in the night."

I'm not saying the world was made in 6,000 years either. The quote is just explaining that a day to us is extremely minuscule to a being that has existed forever and will continue to exist forever.

Apparently everyone disagrees and thinks is was literally made in 6 days. The entire world. Alright then...

@Llew Yea, I agree. I believe it's possible for a god to cause the big bang, which would be more plausible than it creating the world in six days, or there might also be some crazy science-y shiz behind it. Who knows? But the six days things seems extremely unlikely to me

I guess we'll never know cuz none of us were there and if the Big Bang theory's theme song was slowed down I'd be queen of history

the earth began to cool the autotrophs began to drool neanderthals developed tools we built the wall (we built the pyramids) maths science history unravelling the mysteries that all started with the big bang

@Ethan What? I got 1000 years from a quote from the bile that's explained above, and 6 days is also from the bible... He made light, the earth, life, yaddayadda and rested on the 7th day

@👑MirandaKnowsWhat'sUp👑ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ect. So it's unlikely that a God that can destroy two cities completely without any remains and turn a woman into a pillar of salt and can turn water into wine and heal any kind of disease including death can create the universe that he can obviously control? How is that logical. The way I see it, u ether believe in God or u don't and I believe because a cosmos creating its self out of nothing over billions of years is simply impossible.

@matreechi I know what you mean, but considering the complexity of the universe and the knowledge we have of it today, it doesn't make much sense for it to be created in literally 6 days And if you ask yourself "why does the bible say 6 days, then?" that quote kinda answers it

Why would the bible say 6 days if it really ment millions. It doesn't do that any where else? And y couldn't an all powerful god create all this in 6 days. I believe he could have done it in one.

@matreechi I agree, a god probably could've done that, but I'm trying to fit religion to modern day science, here. And I'm saying the 6 days could just be a metaphor, to explain to us how life developed in a simple way. And the quote that states since God is infinite, a thousand years is a day to him, backs up that theory.

Kind of. The whole verse is: Now, dear friends, do not let this one thing escape your notice, that a single day is like a thousand years with the Lord and a thousand years are like a single day. (2 Peter 3:8 NET) the bible also says that God is incapable of doing evil and that lying is evil. It's in the Ten Commandments. And the bible is the word of God therefor it would have to be literal would it not?

Why would it? Metaphors aren't lies, and God himself didn't write the bible, people did.

inspired by God. It says: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was fully God. (John 1:1 NET) similies aren't lies. I don't know if metaphors are or not.

So all good authors are sinners for lying multiple times in all their books? XD And yea, the bible is considered the word of God, but he himself didn't write it. People wrote what prophets said God wants, stories, what they've learned from stories, and quotes. And it was translated so many times we don't know if any of the stuff in it is actually accurate

the originals are still out there. And unlike today, back then they took translation very seriously so I wouldn't doubt the authenticity. All I'm saying is that God and macroevelution contradict each other. And I don't understand the logic of believing in both at the same time

It all depends on how you interpret the bible. I you take it literally and believe it word by word to be true, fine. Fair enough. Some people look into the bible and see it in different ways and discover what they believe to be underlying meanings of things.

I think we're all forgetting the bible consists of specific stories written centuries ago chosen specifically for the purpose of promoting a religion
