AI think it's the sign of a sick society, with ridiculous beauty standards, and is also a sign that a lot of young women don't feel like they're in control of their own lives.

Joseph Cain JCI have it ..

👑MirandaKnowsWhat'sUp👑@A It's not always related to standards and the media and whatnot, the reasons why people have the illness vary

Sarah(FAM/PMS)@👑MirandaKnowsWhat'sUp👑 @A some people use anorexia or self harm to be in control of something. They feel like they can't do anything to change other things, so they control the amount of food they eat.

Sarah(FAM/PMS)Maybe someone knows the answer, were eating disorders as commonly talked about decades before us (1900's)?

👑MirandaKnowsWhat'sUp👑@Sarah True. I'm not sure? But even if it wasn't talked about that doesn't mean it wasn't around. Kinda like with homosexuality 'cause people are confused by how it's increased over the years and think it's because of society or whatever

Sarah(FAM/PMS)@👑MirandaKnowsWhat'sUp👑 true. And we read about toilet paper today in Lang. Arts and apparently it was hard to get on the market because bathroom talk was a no-no in the 1900s

EthanIn the Middle Age and renaissance eras, fat women were preferred over skinny women

👑MirandaKnowsWhat'sUp👑@SailorEthan Yea and pale skin was preferred over tan. People used to bleach their skin to look better which in turn gave them many many health problems

Sarah(FAM/PMS)Being pale and larger showed that you were wealthy. You had enough to eat and didn't need to go out in the sun like a peasant.

👑MirandaKnowsWhat'sUp👑yep^

A@Sarah. Yes, that's why I have one of the main reasons as a need for control... that's one of reasons women especially do this. Men are sometimes susceptible to anorexia as well. I've had to study this disease in the past, and yes, there are a lot of reasons, just those are some of the main factors. It's not an easy thing to recover from, but there's a lot of help out there.
