Im writing an editorial about how belief in Christianity is illogical. Can i have ur opinions please

i want to know what other opinions are so that i can expand my argument

Just Christianity? Or other forms of religion too that believe in one god such as Judaism and Islam?

im focusing on christianity because i know more about it

Well my view is just that there is no way to prove anything and if there was a god why would he let all this shit happen? People say it's a "lesson" if it is its a sick lesson and God must have a sick sense of humor or something....in conclusion God was probably made up to keep people in order by saying if you sin this dude will do bad things etc...

Short version: God is not real because he was most likely made up to keep people in check, my view is some person made God up and said that if you sin then there will be consequences by God and that was made up to keep masses of people in order

Also why would God let all of the horrible things that happen in the world happen if he is an "all mighty being"...some might say he is teaching lessons but then they are some messed up lessons and God has some sick sense of humor or something

@Ashley Yea, I think either there is no god, God is a dick, or God isn't a dick and there's some really deep meaning behind why he makes us go through this shit that is beyond human understanding (because I don't see any possible reason why he couldn't just make a utopia instead of this shit if he's all powerful)

@🎩Llew🎩 There will always be people in the world who get offended by things, no matter what you say... The important thing is that it is absolutely okay to seek truth, think critically, and explore ideas, and not let fear of offending people keep you from that.

it didnt not do it to be polite its cause i couldnt be bothered to deal with sensitive people who get offended. I couldnt care less if i made them cry

To answer your question though, I agree that the beliefs of Christianity are illogical. I don't think people subscribe to these beliefs based on logic, but on emotion. I'm not aware of a single logical reason to hold these beliefs.

well it is logical because to them they fear the fact that there is nothing so they make themselves believe in religion. Perhaps it's not logical to us but it makes sense

In case you want examples... Miracles: illogical, no proof. Bible is word of God: not only no proof, but proof to the contrary. Jesus' existence: no proof, and lots of proof that he's a figure based on older stories, etc., etc.

Christians believe in their religion because they want it to be true. They want there to be a god who is good. They want angels, miracles, a heaven, something to rely on, hope, a path set for them to follow, guidelines of how to live the perfect life, meaning to life on earth, etc. It's all completely illogical and meant to make people feel better about their lives and answer the questions we're all curious about just for the sake of answering them, not necessarily for the truth. I don't think believing in a god is illogical, though.

The bible contradicts itself and makes little sense, however faith is not illogical, for some it is a necessity, thus, although the narrative is illogical, the religion is not

i meant illogical in the sense that it isnt right in my opinion. All beliefs of a god come from the same core belief and split off on their own path

that way, believing in any religion really is supporting the separation of people and of all beliefs even though in theory they all believe in the same being albeit by different images

@🎩Llew🎩 don't you think that there is no way to avoid this separation though. It's not just religion this takes place in, it's all ideologies. You're argument proposes that everyone should have the same core values and beliefs and that would just results in devolution

Im not saying that they should all accept the same single image, im saying they should all recognise that they essentially worship the same being even though they do it differently

religions label how you should worship, how to get into heaven. You need to go to church, you need to pray. I dont support the idea behind that because i dont think religions should uave the power to control lives

I think most know it stems from one belief in God, however the argument I feel is more over the conducting of values, practices and rituals. They all worship the same God, they just disagree on how to worship *him*

Its just i have no issue with believing in a higher being i just dont think that religion should have the power that it does and the more people believe in a certain religion the more power that religion gains. Which is why im of the belief that we shouldn't label beliefs they should just be

Oh I see, but surely all ideologies carry that kind of stigma, such as politics. You can't suggest one ideology deserves less power than another just because it is not your belief.

Religion did once define the law after all, that kind of power doesn't just go; especially considering in many countries church and state are still linked. It would be impossible to remove any stigma from any belief system really, paradigms are too powerful.

im saying that no religion should have power or influence in the grand scheme since its unfair for inhabitants who arent of that faith. Im not saying only Christianity should have no influence

I was referring to all religion rather than just Christianity but your point doesn't seem to focus on Christianity being illogical rather that a religion shouldn't be imposed on those that don't believe it and with that, I agree, though of course all religions should still be respected

I'm agnostic. I just think alot of the bible makes no sense. I also think the idea of some man in another dimension watching us and controlling out lives is pretty ridiculous.
