Actually scientists have stated they don't know why we sleep so I'm going to have to say none.

@Nutty Actually scientists know quite a bit about the purpose of sleep. It cleans out waste fluids that build during the day in the brain, and contributes to memory and immune function, among many other things. One can actually die from lack of sleep. Getting eight hours a night is a really good idea.

If you go without sleep for a long time you go crazy. This was a tactic used by I forget either The Japanese or Chinese in one of the wars. And I don't know how much is needed for "survival" but different amounts for different levels of functioning.

@Sarah. Right, and sadly, the US gov't has also used this as a torture tactic.

Really? Do they use it today? Actually, I'm pretty sure some local police interrogations can go for straight days if I'm not mistaken.

no. I did a sleep study for an entire month and looked up various sites (.gov, .edu, etc) and wrote a paper on it. Harvard Medical Site was the most accurate.

I found that for the average adult, 7 hours is sufficient. For a growing child, 8 hours is good. Anything 10+ is oversleeping which can cause the body to become groggy.

Lack of sleep is in no way 'cool' like these fucking tarts nowadays think it is. Sleep helps clear the waste in the brain that builds up overtime, often portrayed as the color yellow in medical research.

Sleep helps build the immune system and fight sickness. Sleep is a time when the body repairs itself and gives you and myself energy. Insufficient sleep causes the mind to become clouded, therefore causing one to not make wise decisions over time.

It also effects behavior and how likely one is to get into serious accidents on the road. So in conclusion, get your ass to bed at a reasonable time. You aren't cool if you go to bed later than your friends. That makes you a fucktard and an unhealthy dipshit. #Sleep

@AnonymousToAnExtent Yeah. It's annoying whenever people think you're "uncool" or a "buzzkill" if you go to sleep at a proper time.
