Opinion on the confederate flag? Do you think it's racist?

Maybe. I'm so torn over it, and I'm not even from the south! I know that I don't think there should be laws to make them take it down, because that would be taking away freedom of speech. But I'm not so sure the south should be proud of the history affiliated with that flag.

Idk i honestly have to compare it to the Nazi flag that has been outlawed in Germany. It literally represents racism, and I just, I can't find a reason to justify is being flown with the regular flag. The south lost, and the only place that flag should be, is in history books.

That's true, and it not only represents racism and slavery, but treason to America. A lot of people from the south are sort of "desensitized" to it, so I can't really tell how some feel, as in northern.

When I lived in Washington DC, some important buildings and such had the flag! I think it's cra-cra, it's a sign of slavery

The confederate flag is not a part of today. It stands and will still stand to show its history (its dark history) to show that it is no more and shows the better america today!

Yep. Even if I didn't find it racist, I'd still say they should all be taken down because my opinion wouldn't be worth so many people feeling uncomfortable and/or offended.

its sort of come to symbolise racism even if thats not what it was originally, like the swastika used to symbolise peace or somethinb before the nazi's took it and changed the meaning

I honestly think they should've kept it up, because it was an important part of history. People need to take a chill pill and grow up. You're adults. You can handle it.

you might be able do handle it or not see it as a big deal but imagine living in fear because you see people waving a flag that represents people who wanted you as slaves

Still. It's showing how much better it is today, and it's not like people are going to make a pledge and salute that flag that's a symbol of something that happened that was awful.

Nooo, it's not racist. It's a southern thing. I would put a Confederate flag on my truck but I wouldn't be able to drive around with it without people calling me racist which I am not. I just like the style of the flag and its also a southern thing.

@👊Duchessjohanna👊 yeah, the flag itself is a bit racist but it's not like all the people who own a Confederate flag are racist. It's just a part of southern heritage and I for one embrace it and plenty of other non racist people embrace it too.
