As much as I would like to believe otherwise, altruism doesn't exist. No body is altruist. There is always a self interest hidden, even if it is for your conscience, or religion.. The only people I can think to be altruist, maybe, are Buddhist monks.. And even then I am not sure..

I personally think it depends on the person & how they were brought up.. But thats just me...

It depends on the person... They could think of themselves first, bye make a choice better for others. I think we always know what's best for ourselves immediately, because that's easy. It's the choice we make that's the important part, to me.

It's proven that everyone ALWAYS thinks of themselves first.. . . . Even if they're being generous, because they're making themselves look better from being generous. It's a state of mind that nature can never escape. . . .

@Cazz Every single altruistic thing a person does benefits themselves-this is true and also a motivator to do good things, yes. But I don't think it's the only motivator; I do believe people do genuinely care. To an extent.

@BMO(Sarah)[THB] ooooo I like that a lot and I think you're right. For the most part we think for ourselves because that comes instantly and naturally, /then/ we think of others because that requires more time and effort, and weigh out our options.

@👑MirandaKnowsWhat'sUp👑 True, and I never said otherwise.. Just that pure un-self interest actions are, in my opinion, extremely rare. But it is also true that some people care for others, and the fact they people help people, regardless what their motivation is, is good enough for me 😊

I think it is in human nature to firstly think about themselves, rather than about other people. But at the same time it really depends on the person. It depends on wether you're rather a selfish person or a selfless person. I tend to be too selfless, at least that's what I'm told.

Both, being too selfish and being too selfless, are not perfect. I think it's best when people would all have a balance between these two caracteristics.

@noe Yea I never have that balance. I'll talk to people about their problems for 8hrs straight every day for a year and wreck my own mental health in the process, and then when it comes to like everything else I'm just kinda a dick ahaha

I do like to help people though, it's just that I can't always so I just keep to myself.
