@Emma 3 miles is not that bad. I have to run everyday and I have a two hour soccer work out on the weekdays and 2 hours of basketball on Tuesday and Thursday. I have ran 5 miles before.

it's not crazy because there is a girl in my school who had to lose weight for surgery. She was 13, not 11 but someone could be doing the same thing

Not at all ridiculous. 5 days a week I have soccer for two hours, in which I run around 3 miles each practice on top of that I also run in the mornings( 3 miles), have to run a mile in gym every day, and I horse back ride, and in the summers I swim about a half mile

Well I had lacrosse practice every other day and on the other days I had fitness club so I did run more than four miles the four miles was for lacrosse with other conditioning

not ridiculous. I play basketball and run races. Last month I ran a ten mile race and I'm only 12. I think it is very important to stay active. Plus it can be fun

@AnnaDuffy isn't a ten mile race a little bit to long for a 12 year old. Those long races aren't good on the body.

@Linley you are just clueless. I know it's good to have muscle over fat. Have you never heard the stories of the marathon runners who have to get their hips replaced and how bad their joints are? I am a runner and I love to run but I will never be running that much because I don't want to have bad joints when I get older.

working out is good for your body and you should work out and be adoptive whenever you can!!! It can also be really fun!! I personally like the run 5ks and 5 mile races, im actually running one tomorrow! You should be active at least one hour a day, and running can be very good for you as long as you stretch and don't push yourself too hard for it to be harming to your body! Therefore, no, I don't think it's ridiculous for an 11 year old to workout.

@Linley yes you are clueless because that's not even what I'm talking about. Just listen RUNNING A MARATHON IS BAD ON THE BODY. Do you want to have bad joints and get your hips replaced? Humans were not meant to run marathons it's way to long. It's possible but it's horrible for you.

No it's not people run all the time people run the Boston marathon all the time they still run it after the bomb marathons aren't bad for your body it's called training if your not ready to race then your not ready I heft being not ready and trying to run it but if your ready your ready . I play lacrosse and it's all running in fifth grade my coach had us running like 5 miles a week for two hour practices.

@Linley five miles a week is not bad at all it's actually really easy. Are you even listening to what I'm saying? I said it's possible to run and get in shape for a marathon but it's awful on the body.

@Rose12 I agree. Running that much at that young can do damage on the body. It can be overworked. It is good to stay in shape but that can put too much stress on muscles and joints, and may cause problems later

I know it's not much but that was fifth grade that was just for lacrosse not my running clubs and stuff u just train and when your ready your ready maybe u don't want to run a 13 mile marathon but it's not that bad

Let 11 year olds be 11 year olds. Why are we pushing body standards on them already at such a young age?? Have fun! Go be with your friends! You shouldn't be worried about the appearance of your body.
