Is there a meaning to life?

People always ask what the meaning to life is, assuming there is one. But like, how do we know there's any purpose at all? I believe there are short term meanings to life like making others happy and whatnot, but no eternal meaning. Just because the meaning isn't eternal doesn't mean people are worthless or anything, the present is just as important as the future, but like I don't get why people think there's some like crazy ass scheme that this life relates to after death that makes all the things we've done worth something forever like whaaaat

I don't think there's any one, definitive meaning to life. I think people make their own meaning to it- whether it be changing the world or just making someone smile.

But I also think that people constantly look for a meaning because they're terrified that there isn't one.
