No... You have to read the books or you miss out on key events.

I think one or the other...or both! No need to exclude. We are all into the same franchise.

you can still be a fan of something without knowing everything about it. (Though I would prefer it if you did)

I haven't read a single book, although I should've, but I've seen all of the movies about 3 times so I know pretty much everything.

I've seen all of the movies, but I can't afford to buy the books so I only read the first 5 so far.
