No, any one in the Military protects us. Without them, we may have war on our land. My father was a marine, my cousin was a marine and I am joining. Marines jobs are to keep citizens safe all the while they put their own lives at risk.

my grandfather died in a war he was in the marines. Currently my cousin who is 20 is going into the Air Force. I know it's for a good cause but I really don't want him to die :(

@Highqualitydirt that is evil to say. Without the military, the US wouldn't exist, most everybody would be dead by terrorism (bin laden would still be alive) and there would still be slavery in the US.

@Bridget, wars are rarely to protect the interests of the nation, they are usually for dominance (thermopylae), revenge (world war one), or racism (Vietnam), very few wars have been for the benefit of the people, and even fewer actually helped the people

Both of my parents were in Airforce, all four of my grandpas (my grandmas had divorced and remarried) were in the military, my uncles have been in the Marines, and my boyfriend is being deployed for the Marines very soon. @Michael Moon yes, every war had a purpose, but all were devastating, and in my view, were too disatsrous to be repeated again. meaning, i dont agree with war amongst ourselves. we are all human, so why must we abuse the lives of others? why can we not get along? i know this is impossible, and that many of you will probably disagree with no wars, but i think killing other people, people with families and children, because your told that it is for the best, is harsh. very very harsh, especially when you will probably die and leave your family and community devastated for many years to come. and this is all coming from a 9th grader.

@Helmirawr do you like living in a free country? Because the army risks their life to make sure you can have freedom! (: Being in the Army is honourable!

They protect us and anyone who says no more war I respect your opinion but don't agree: I would be proud of war it's not a good thing but it made your country free so stop and think why is war really that bad it made me free. GO U.S.A
