I always thought the answer was yes, but I was just on debate.org (I'm sure the people who know me aren't surprised a have a debate.org account lol), and some guy explained: If one was born either gay or straight, the only way bisexuality could be explained would be through incomplete or co-dominance. If that was the case, then in order to be straight, one would have to be homozygous for heterosexuality. Therefore, it would be impossible for two straight parents to have a gay child. Thus, it is illogical for homosexuality to be genetic.
This is the only time I actually needed to know the shiz I'm learning in bio...

I don't think so sumtimes ppl get driven to being gay like if they just can't find the rite girl/guy or for some other reason sumtimes it can be but I really don't know

I don't get how someone can just willingly change who they're sexually attracted to, though. Like if I was surrounded by naked chicks, I would just think it's weird. I wouldn't get turned on by that and I don't see how I could change that

@👑MirandaKnowsWhat'sUp👑 you drive a pretty good argument. However, I believe it's all a combination of how you're brought up, any traumatic experiences, who your friends are, and what you are experiencing now. Like someone could be brought up completely normal by Christian parents, but a girl they really like and crush on breaking their heart could cause a distrust for the opposite sex or something, driving them to the same, or the opposite

I know people who are straight who've been through things like that, and I know people who are gay/bi who haven't (as far as I'm aware). And if it's all environmental and emotional, how do you explain gay wildlife?

Maybe it could be a sex-linked trait....? But then there'd be more homosexual men than females, and I don't know if that's true

@👑MirandaKnowsWhat'sUp👑 I'm sure you do know people that were like that and weren't gay, that's why I said, the opposite could be true also. And gay wildlife? I've heard rumors of it in pro gay videos, but I've never seen any proof

My one friend who is really smart and serious said there's proof of gay penguins, and she always makes sure she gets info from credible sources, so I believe her. I don't have proof though

This question makes about as much sense as asking if you can get pregnant from anal :/

@Lauren Umm noooo... Getting pregnant through anal is not possible, homosexuality being genetic is possible

If homosexuality is genetic, that really doesn't add up. Only heterosexual couples can have children so how is it that the child is born homosexual? My opinion is that a person makes a choice or is affected by their surroundings, and it isn't programmed into their genes like an instinct.

Genetics are /a lot/ more complicated than that, and there's still a lot we don't know.
Homosexuality is the sexual attraction to people of the same sex. Are you physically capable of changing who you're attracted to? Cause I'm not. Sexual attraction to someone involves being aroused by them. If a chick stripped in from of me, I would not be turned on, I'd be like whatever and walk away. I have no control over the fact that doesn't turn me on, because that is a bodily function I, and everyone else, can't control. We can't control when certain hormones and endorphins in our body are released, and those hormones cause sexual attraction/bein turned on, so how could we choose out sexuality?

It's a touchy subject but I believe people choose whether they want to or not, but some are born already thinking that way. All have the choice to become heterosexual, and I've heard amazing stories where men changed with hard work and even married a wife they loved. People don't think about that just if they want to become homosexual, not change to heterosexual
