@Spencer evolution is a real thing...research Galápagos Islands and their wildlife. The bird species are are pretty similar except for their beaks. Due to what they adapted to eating, their beaks evolved new shapes and sizes. Mutations that aid in the survival of the animal means they can mate and pass on the genes, and if those genes prove to be valuable, over time the species as a whole will survive and have that new trait.
