Crap. I chose no by mistake, but dance is a sport. It's the same with marching band. Nobody thinks its a sport, but marching band can get pretty physical....

if ballet was easy we would all be playing football. I know because my director tells me Tht everyday dance is a sport because you use your core strength. So it's a sport because your still working out harder

I think that your definition of "sport" is a bit off. Dance is more of an artform, but not a sport. Just because something requires talent, skill, and is physically demanding, it is no more a sport than laying tile, or building a house.

and isn't gymnastics a sport? yeah. and ice skating? they are even in the Olympics. so dance is a sport too.

First off... nobody is insulting dance. We all know that it is physicaly demanding and that it takes tallent. I'm just arguing the definition of the word "sport". Kung-fu is just as demanding and requires as much skill as dance... but, that does'nt make it a "sport". We all know that contests can be organized to see who is the best at a given activity, and dance falls into this category, but then again, so does chess, drag racing, and yo-yo spinning. I still maintain that dance is an artform, but not a "sport". That being said, I DO respect dance for what it is.

It depends how physically demanding it is. Like ballet, your toes bleed, you have to have really strong legs, and it is very physically demanding.

Ummmmm, I'm a dancer and anyone who says its not a sport should keep their opinions to their self. We have to have long and lean muscles so we do 200-300 sit ups, around 80-200 push ups, per day and ill not even tell u about the rest

but I've heard by some definitions a sport requires the use of a ball. That is not to say that dance isn't difficult or doesn't require skill; it just may not be a sport by definition. Same with track and field.

sport is something that requires you to react to others in the moment. Dance is pre-choreographed therefore does not count
